3. Describe the first quarrel between Lomov and Natalya.
Ans: – Lomov visits Chubukov’s house to propose to his daughter Natalya. In the course of trying to express his feeling for Natalya, he says that his Oxen Meadows touches their Birchwood. At this Natalya interrupts him in a bit of a sense of disagreement and claims that the Meadows belongs to them. Thus the first quarrel between Natalya and Lomov starts. Lomov’s remark that Oxen Meadows was given by his ant’s grandmother to the parents of her father’s grandfather for free use made Natalya angry and she claims that the oxen meadows are their property for nearly three hundred years. Thus both of them continue the argument claiming that it is their property.
4. Describe the second quarrel between Lomov and Natalya.
Ans: – After the first quarrel over the oxen meadows. Natalya tries not to argue with Lomov anymore but eventually, they again start fighting over their hunting dogs. Both of them tried to establish the superiority of their dog over the other. Lomov describes that his dog is the best and he has spent 125 rubles for him. On the other side, Natalya says that he has spent more as she has a better dog just for 85 rubles. At this, Lomov starts mentioning the faults in Squeezer, Natalya’s dog. He says that he is not a good under. Then to defend her dog Natalya says that Squeezer is a pure and young dog whereas Guess is impure and old. Finally, they leave the topic and start abusing each other’s family members.
